As for the main discussion of this journal, I thus present this: Who has the best national anthem in the world?
Personally, I would say Germany, it is very funky, although the Soviet (USSR)'s was fairly warlike.
Frankly I do not completely understand the purpose of national anthems, nor of flags. True, they are used to differentiate, yet perhaps as such their systematical decline in usefulness over the past ages is the result of... well, war. We don't really have any major ones going on at the moment, although that is likely to change, especially with Medvedev continuing Putin's legacy, and Putin did control one of the world's most powerful countries.

And now the best song award goes to Akvarium, a Russian rock group, disbanded now, and the song is 10 Strel (10 Arrows).
